No time to visit the Alps?
No problem!
Hi. I'm Roland.
Welcome to "hikezurich.ch".
I grew up and live in Zurich with my wife and kids.
As a former world traveler and enthusiastic hiker,
I would love to show you the adventurous side of Zurich's local mountain.
The Üetliberg.
During the ascent, we will pass old “mountaineering huts.”
These date back to a time when city dwellers had neither the money nor the time to go to the Swiss Alps.
Therefore they practiced climbing and hiking on the Üetliberg.
After the ascent: Easy walk to the “Top of Zurich” viewpoint at the Uetliberg Uto Kulm.
Enjoy the 360° panorama over Zurich, the lake and, on a clear day, as far as the Alps.
If you feel like it: Climb the tower (admission fee).
The descent then becomes a little more adventurous again.
If you dare, we can take a path where you need to do a short "abseil" without harness.
Start / End:
We meet at 8.20 at the Groupmeetingpoint at Zurich-Hauptbahnhof (red cube in the mainhall)
We than catch the "Sihltalbahn" for a short ride to our Startingpint.
We finish the hike on a different place.
The Tram will bring us back to Zurich-Hauptbahnhof
Bring with you:
Valid 24-hour public transport ticket for Zurich town area (zone 10)
Water (there is an opportunity to refill drinking water halfway through the hike)
